Where To Get Açaí Around Delmarva

Açaí (pronounced ah-sah-EE) is a delicious tropical super fruit and when it comes served as a bowl it makes waking up a whole lot easier.

For those of you who do not know what açaí is, then today is your lucky day. An acai bowl is heavenly deliciousness, that not only tastes good, but is good for you!

The açaí berry is known as a “superfood” that has some great health benefits such as improving your heart, clearing up your skin, and aiding in weight loss.

In an açaí bowl, the açaí berry gets blended into a thick substance, similar to that of a milkshake or smoothie, and is topped with granola, fruit, coconut shavings, and/or peanut butter to just name a few. Don’t forget to take a photo of this bad boy before you dig in — açaí bowls are just too pretty to not take a pic of them.

Looking to get your hands on an açaí bowl on Delmarva? Here are our top places to go ...

3BB Cafe - Bethany Beach,DE

Located in the heart of downtown Bethany Beach, 3BB Cafe is a family owned and operated business (who also own Three Blonde Bakers right next door). They specialize in fair-trade coffee, açaí and pitaya bowls, and other sweet treats! Stop in to pick up a bowl and say hi to Britt & Cassidy.

We recommend: The OG Bowl & a Caramel Macchiato

Nectar Cafe & Juice Bar - Lewes,DE

Located in historic Lewes, Nectar is a true gem to the town. Their quaint atmosphere makes you feel like you're eating breakfast in your own home (without having to do the work). It's a win win. Cozy up by the fire with friends, or sit at the bar for a more casual visit. While this post is about açaí - you really can't go wrong ordering anything on their menu!

We recommend: The Açaí Bowl & Morning After Juice

Twist Juice Bar - Rehoboth Beach,DE

When I first found Twist Juice Bar I was brought in by their extensive cold press juice menu. Once I stepped inside and saw they had so much more to offer I was even more hyped to try them out! This is the perfect place to grab a quick meal or stop in with friends & eat at their cute outdoor tables.

We recommend: The Tropic & Black on Track Juice

Juice Box - Oceanview & Rehoboth Beach, DE

This is a seasonal shop that you can't miss out on! From homemade pastries to organic salads, Juice Box offers healthy options for every tastebud. They also are always experimenting so be sure to stop in and try one of their new creations!

We recommend:  The Açaí Bowl & Mango Madness Smoothie

Real Raw Organics - Ocean City, MD

Real Raw Organics have been on my radar for a while. They are best known for being a Kombucha brewery, as well as having a complete organic menu. When you order an açaí bowl from them you can any pick 5 toppings from their extensive offerings. I think they have like 20 options to choose from - so the combinations are endless!

We recommend:  The Açaí Bowl topped with strawberry, banana, granola, chia seeds, and almond butter

Playa Bowls - Rehoboth Beach, DE

While this store hasn't opened yet, I had to mention it because my favorite place to get açaí bowls back in my hometown in New Jersey is coming to the Delaware Beaches and I couldn't be more stoked! Starting from a smoothie stand up on the Boardwalk in Belmar, NJ to having well over 40+ stores ( and so many more coming) - Pineappleland is taking over the East coast! When they finally open this summer - you're going to want to run not walk to their grand opening!

We recommend:  8th Ave Bowl or The Power Bowl

So now that you know what the açaí bowl is, and how beautiful it looks, and where to get it - you absolutely need to go try one of these babies. You will not regret it!

Brielle, NJ

Brielle, NJ. The tiny town that sits in between Point Pleasant & Manasquan. Surprisingly these 2 miles have some great eats. Here are the 10 best spots (that are locally tested) to munch at.

1. Mariner's Cove

A brielle classic. This go to breakfast spot has an extensive menu with insane portion sizes. It's honestly impossible to leave hungry. This is a local hotspot so we do recommend getting there early because the wait can get pretty long.

Must Try: Cinnamon Apple Crepes + Grandma Banana Pancakes

2. Jimmy's Cucina

Looking for true Jersey pizza? The search is over. This place serves great, fresh favorites at a reasonable price (which, honestly can be difficult to find at the beach) Not in the mood for pizza (first, do you have a fever?), second, don't worry because Jimmy's also offers, salads, subs, pasta, & taco's.

Must Try: BBQ Chicken Pizza

3. Shipwreck Grill

An elegant gem at the beach. This is definitely not a come off the beach for a quick bite restaurant. You can't go wrong when ordering any of their seafood entrees.

Must try: Seared Sesame Tuna

4. Simko's Grill

With an inviting atmosphere, 30+ TV's, and an extensive menu, Simko's is a great place to grab a drink after work, or dinner with your family.

Must Try: Grilled Shrimp Salad

5. Waypoint 622

Great restaurant with an incredible view of the Manasquan River. Chef Andy will knock himself out to please you. If you're looking for more than a burger and fries, give this place a try.

Must Try: Octopus Charcuterie

6. Brielle Ale House

With over 60 beers on tap, a fun menu, arcade games, and live music, this is the place to be! Need a ride to or from? Brielle Ale House offers a FREE shuttle service.

Must Try: Rise and Shine Burger

Screen Shot 2017-09-09 at 11.17.37 AM.png

7. Brielle Bagels

Brielle Bagels is a local hot spot serving up the best bagels, a fresh juice, and sweet treats. Handmade and baked in-store, Brielle Bagels are second to none! Enjoy them topped with their homemade cream cheeses or go all out with pork roll egg and cheese (salt pepper ketchup!).

Must Try: Pork Roll & Cheese

Screen Shot 2017-09-09 at 11.16.30 AM.png

8. River Cafe

A go-to morning favorite in Brielle. GREAT breakfast and lunch choices - nothing too fancy  - but they deliver the classics with style.  It has the feel of a simple 'luncheonette' (you can sit at a counter if you like) but with an updated touch.

Must Try: BLT

Asbury Park, NJ

Asbury Park is the coolest small town in America. This little beach town exemplifies the cultural diversity, creative energy, and unparalleled natural beauty. Asbury Park has gained global recognition when the iconic Bruce Springsteen released his debut album, Greetings From Asbury Park. Since then, the town has seen its ups and downs but is currently back on track to be one of the best beach towns in the world.

One of the best things about Asbury Park? The FOOD! Here is your food guide to this cool town.

1. The Speakeatery

I've read so much about this place ( + saw them on Insider) and wondered if it was worth it or just too hyped up. 100% worth it. Completely unpretentious and as laid back as it gets. The menu is full of approachable, yet creative sandwiches.

Must Try: The General! Crispy General Tso's Chicken, Broccoli Ginger Slaw, Sticky Rice Buns!

via The Speakeatery Facebook

via The Speakeatery Facebook

2. MOGO Korean Fusion Tacos

This is such an unexpected find. They graciously pack your tacos with all the goods. It's a BYOB so perfect for date night! Also - they have incredible vegan options!

Must Try: Fish Tacos - Lightly floured cod with pickled onion salad topped with spicy mayo

3. Johnny Mac's House of Spirits

A very unique bar that has a really fun vibe. They serve FREE PIZZA with every drink order - ALL DAY EVERDAY! Oh yeah, and they serve free omlettes on Sunday with any bloody mary or mimosa. Yes, you read that correctly. What more could you ask for from a bar.

Must Try: Bud Light & FREE Pizza (duh!)

This trendy Italian spot is a must stop if you're in Asbury Park. The food is fantasic, the drink options are plenty, and the decor is so fun & unique! You can't go to PORTA without snapping a pic in front of their iconic EAT, DRINK, BE HONEST doors.

Must Try: The Onion

5. Talula's

First, this space is so cool. It has such an airy industrial feel with fun decor. I seriously was obsessed with their restaurant length exposed brick wall. It definitely made you feel like you were in some trendy bar in NYC and not at the beach in Jersey.

Okay on to the incredible food. You can totally see and taste how fresh the ingredients they are using. They make it known that they pickle, ferment, preserve, bake, and make most of their dairy in house. How awesome is that! What was cool to find was how extensive their vegan & vegetarian options were. Definitely telling all my vegan friends about this place!

Must Try: Green "Eggs and Ham" pizza

6. Bond Street Bar

If you're looking for cheap eats, cheap drinks, and great times with good friends, then this is the place to go! Bond Street Bar has a simple bar menu, anchored by an interesting variety of burgers & grilled cheese sandwiches. The prices are unbeatable, but just note that it is cash only.

Must Try: Patty Melt

7.  Hoagitos

I recently discovered Hoagitos and oh. em. gee. I am so happy our paths crossed. They're so innovative with their flavor combinations and are known to put their own twist onto classic sandwiches.

They make a sammich that hits the spot, what else is there to say? But don't be surprised if there is a bit of a wait. Trust me, it is so worth it.

Must try: Southern Comfort

If you want to feel like you're in NYC then this is the place for you. The menu offers traditional and creative choices, both healthy and indulgent. I would not be doing my job if I didn't mention they pancakes. These pancakes are made using the owner Amy's family recipe, and man are they delicious!

Must Try:  Any of their pancakes!

9. Langosta Lounge

The perfect spot to dine beachfront. Do note, that because you are dining (basically) on the beach, the menu prices reflect that. This place definitely has a Jersey Shore summer vibe with their vacation inspired cuisine.

Must Try: Shrimp Haliíimaile

10. Asbury Festhalle & Beirgarten

Asbury Festhalle and Biergarten is a great local hangout with a lot of good Austrian-German European atmosphere. Lots of beers/beverages to choose from, tasty European style eats, and a rooftop that is great to chill at. Hit them early in the evening during the summer season to avoid the lines though.

Must Try: Kielbasa and Beer
